Stryker has completed its acquisition of ZuriMED, adding the FiberLocker System to its shoulder care portfolio.
The FiberLocker System is a commercialised rotator cuff augmentation technology designed to enhance the biomechanical strength of rotator cuff repairs.
The technology addresses an important clinical need in rotator cuff repair and expands Stryker’s ability to support shoulder surgeons with innovative solutions across the shoulder continuum of care.
“ZuriMED brings specialized expertise and a differentiated technology that complements our growing shoulder care capabilities,” said Andy Pierce, group president, MedSurg and Neurotechnology, Stryker.
“Together, we have an opportunity to advance the FiberLocker technology, expand access to innovative treatment options and deliver greater value for our customers and their patients,” he added.
Rotator cuff augmentation is one of the fastest-growing areas in sports medicine and represents a significant opportunity in shoulder care. The acquisition is expected to strengthen Stryker’s ability to support shoulder specialists across sports medicine and arthroplasty, further expanding its rotator cuff augmentation portfolio.
Stryker signed a definitive agreement to acquire ZuriMED in August 2026.
The FiberLocker System received US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance on February 3, 2025 and entered the US market in the first quarter of 2025.
Earlier this month, Stryker and CMR Surgical announced a strategic alliance to advance robotic-assisted surgery.
Under the agreement, Stryker will make a preferred equity investment of approximately $400 million (£300 million) in CMR Surgical to support future innovation and the global commercialisation of its Versius surgical robotics portfolio, subject to customary closing conditions.
The investment also grants Stryker an exclusive option to acquire 100% of CMR Surgical’s outstanding equity in the future, subject to the terms of the agreement.
Stryker will act as the exclusive US sales agent for the Versius portfolio, while CMR Surgical will continue to lead product development and commercialisation in markets outside the United States.
