Blue Chip Medical Products, a leading US manufacturer of therapeutic support surfaces and positioning products, has announced the commercial launch of Pro-Daptive SensorCell, an advanced wound care mattress system designed to help prevent and treat complex pressure injuries.
Powered by the company’s patented SensorCell technology, the system is intended for the management of Stage III, Stage IV and unstageable pressure injuries, as well as post-flap and post-graft care. It is designed for use in hospitals, wound care clinics, long-term care facilities and home care settings.
According to the company, the advanced wound care support surface helps improve clinical outcomes by promoting and accelerating the healing of advanced pressure injuries, while also reducing treatment costs, shortening hospital stays or home care duration, and enhancing patient comfort.
The Pro-Daptive SensorCell system features hundreds of independently responsive SensorCells that automatically adapt to changes in patient position and pressure. Combined with real-time pressure visualization, customizable immersion, complete targeted offloading and adjustable microclimate management, the system enables clinicians to tailor therapy to each patient’s anatomy, clinical condition and specific wound care needs.

Pro-Daptive SensorCell vs Air Fluidized Therapy
Unlike conventional alternating pressure mattresses, which rely on large air bladders and weight-based settings, Pro-Daptive SensorCell uses independently responsive SensorCells to deliver a more adaptive therapeutic surface.
The system also addresses several practical limitations associated with Air Fluidized Therapy, including surface instability, difficult patient repositioning and transfers, increased insensible fluid loss, high acquisition and maintenance costs, labour-intensive operation, and limited suitability for home use after discharge.
The support surface offers six therapeutic modes—Immersion, Custom Immersion, Heel Float, Cavity Creation, Dynamic Offloading and Mobility Mode—providing clinicians with precise control over treatment.
Heel Float and Cavity Creation modes provide complete offloading for vulnerable areas such as the heels, sacrum, coccyx and buttocks. A touchscreen monitor displays real-time visual and numerical pressure data, allowing clinicians to adjust therapy instantly as patient needs change.
The system also includes adjustable low air loss therapy, automatic Fowler response for shear protection and a Mobility Mode that creates a firmer surface for repositioning, patient transfers and CPR. According to independent laboratory testing cited by the company, Mobility Mode reduced caregiver repositioning effort by more than 30 per cent.
Manufactured in the United States, Pro-Daptive SensorCell is available exclusively through Blue Chip Medical Products in 36-inch and 42-inch widths.
The company says the system is designed to support continuity of advanced pressure injury treatment by allowing patients to continue therapy at home after discharge from a hospital or long-term care facility, potentially reducing the risk of wound deterioration that may contribute to hospital readmission.
