Oura Ring 5 – What’s New Beyond the Smaller Design

The new signal architecture of Oura Ring 5 allows users to experience more accurate activity detection than any previous generation.

ŌURA has unveiled the Oura Ring 5, describing it as the world’s smallest smart ring — but the latest generation wearable is about far more than just a slimmer design.

The company said the Oura Ring 5 is 40 per cent thinner, lighter, and smaller than the previous Oura Ring 4, achieved through a complete redesign of the ring’s mechanical, electrical, optical, battery, and sensing architecture.

“To make something 40 percent smaller without sacrificing an ounce of accuracy, we had to rethink every assumption — the sensors, the battery, the architecture, the geometry of the ring itself,” said Holly Shelton, chief product officer at Oura.

“The result is the most capable wearable we’ve ever made—small enough to fit seamlessly into everyday life, and significant enough to set a new standard,” she added.

Oura Ring 5 measures 6.09mm in width and 2.28mm in thickness, while weighing as little as 2 grams depending on the ring size.

Crafted from lightweight, non-allergenic titanium, Oura Ring 5 is designed to go beyond traditional health tracking. The company combines its most advanced hardware to date with new software that transforms real-time biometric data into actionable health insights.

Spanning preventative health, metabolic monitoring, live activity tracking, sleep, and women’s wellness, Oura Ring 5 puts more than 50 health metrics at users’ fingertips

Next-Generation Sensing and Improved Accuracy

Oura Ring 5 introduces a new signal architecture featuring low-profile sensor domes designed for better skin contact, upgraded LEDs for clearer and more consistent readings, and twelve enhanced signal pathways intended to improve accuracy across different finger types and skin tones.

The new signal architecture of Oura Ring 5 allows users to experience more accurate activity detection than any previous generation.

The ring is also designed for continuous wear throughout daily activities. Oura says the device is its “most scratch-resistant ring” to date, thanks to a strengthened physical vapour deposition coating. Oura Ring 5 is dust resistant and waterproof up to 100 meters (IP68), making it suitable for workouts, travel, and sleep tracking.

“Oura Ring 5 is a big step toward our vision of giving everybody a voice,” said Tom Hale, chief executive officer at Oura.

“By reimagining Oura Ring 5 to be smaller, easier to wear, and pairing it with our most advanced software yet, we’re making it possible for many more people to wear Oura every day—and to benefit from the personalized, predictive health insights that come with it,” he added.

Oura Ring 5 offers up to one week of battery life on a single charge. The smart ring is available in sizes 6 to 13. The device launches in multiple finishes, including two newly introduced options — a redesigned Gold finish with a lighter tone closer to true gold, and Deep Rose, a copper-rose shade.

Pricing and Availability

Oura Ring 5 became available globally for pre-order on May 28, 2026, and is scheduled to begin shipping from June 4, 2026.

It is priced at $499 for premium finishes— Gold, Stealth, Brushed Silver, and Deep Rose—and $399 for base finishes in Silver and Black. Oura Ring 5 comes with a standard size-specific charger.

The Oura Ring 5 Charging Case is a portable aluminum charging accessory designed for travel and daily use. The charging case stores up to one month of backup battery power and supports wireless charging. It also includes a dedicated action button for quick pairing and charging status updates through the Oura app.

The accessory is priced at $99 and is compatible exclusively with Oura Ring 5.

Expanded Software Experience Portfolio

Alongside the Oura Ring 5 launch, Oura has introduced a new portfolio of software experiences spanning activity tracking, proactive health, connected care, metabolic health, and more. These features will be available on Oura Ring Gen3 devices and later generations.

The new live activity tracking feature allows users to start workouts and monitor key metrics in real time through the Oura mobile app.

Building on the Symptom Radar feature launched in 2024, Oura has now introduced Health Radar —designed to continuously monitor key biometric signals and identify patterns that may indicate potential health concerns.

Health Radar includes two foundational capabilities — blood pressure signals and nighttime breathing. According to Oura, these insights may help users determine when rest, lifestyle adjustments, or evaluation by a healthcare professional may be needed.

In addition, the company introduced Locate, an upgraded device-tracking feature available on Oura Ring Gen2 and future generations. The feature adds support for multiple devices and an in-app search mode to help users locate misplaced rings or charging cases more easily.

Founded in Finland in 2013, ŌURA is headquartered in San Francisco, with its European Union headquarters in Oulu.
