Aurobindo Pharma has completed the transfer of its domestic branded generic pharmaceutical formulations business to Auropharm Limited, its wholly owned subsidiary, with effect from July 1, 2026.
The transfer was executed on a slump sale basis in accordance with the Business Transfer Agreement (BTA) signed between Aurobindo Pharma and Auropharm Limited, formerly known as Auro Pharma Limited. The company had first informed the stock exchanges about the agreement on April 6, 2026.
In a regulatory filing, Aurobindo Pharma confirmed that all the terms and conditions of the BTA have been fulfilled, and the transaction has been completed in compliance with Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
Last month, on June 3, Aurobindo Pharma also inaugurated TheraNym, its dedicated biologics contract manufacturing organisation (CMO), with MSD as its anchor customer.
TheraNym marks the company’s strategic expansion into biologics contract manufacturing, a rapidly growing segment that plays an increasingly important role in meeting global demand for biologic therapies.
“TheraNym represents a defining moment in large-scale biologics manufacturing in India and a proud milestone for Aurobindo Pharma,” said Dr. Satakarni Makkapati, CEO Biologics and Director, Aurobindo Pharma.
Located in Borapatla, around 45 minutes from Hyderabad’s Financial District, the facility features 15 KL bioreactors, advanced downstream processing suites, aseptic fill-finish capabilities, and quality control laboratories. Designed to meet international regulatory standards, the site is expected to support MSD’s supply chain for both domestic and export markets, subject to regulatory approvals and customer requirements.
Commenting on the collaboration, Dr Dave Maraldo, Executive Vice President and President, MSD Manufacturing Division, said, “This innovative partnership reflects a shared commitment to strengthening global access to critical biologic medicines. TheraNym adds meaningful capacity and capability to the MSD supply chain, helping enable compliant, and reliable supply of products to the patients who need them most.”
Present in over 150 countries, Aurobindo Pharma has established a strong global reputation for its expertise in generic medicines, injectable products, and increasingly, complex biologics. Through TheraNym, the company aims to position itself as an integrated biologics player and a trusted global CMO partner.
