BD Launches UltraCor Twirl Breast Tissue Markers in India

BD’s Breast Tissue Markers reduce migration risk and support breast lesion localisation across imaging modalities.

BD’s UltraCor Twirl Breast Tissue Markers Launched in India

BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) has introduced its UltraCor Twirl Breast Tissue Markers in India, designed to reduce the risk of marker migration and enable visibility across ultrasound, mammography and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The markers help clinicians track breast lesions during treatment planning and follow-up, even when lesions are no longer visible after a biopsy.

Designed for enhanced stability and precise placement, the markers are intended to support minimally invasive breast care by facilitating treatment planning and follow-up.

Breast tissue markers are implanted during or after a biopsy to identify the location of suspicious lesions. They help facilitate accurate localisation for surgery, imaging follow-up and treatment planning, particularly when lesions become difficult to identify after a procedure.

With the growing use of minimally invasive breast procedures, including vacuum-assisted excision (VAE), precise lesion localisation has become increasingly important. Breast cancer treatment may involve serial imaging, neoadjuvant therapy, surgery and long-term surveillance. In such cases, accurate marking of lesion sites can help clinicians track treatment progress, plan subsequent interventions and support clinical decision-making.

Healthcare providers therefore require markers that remain stable within breast tissue and can be visualised across different imaging modalities throughout the patient journey.

BD said the UltraCor Twirl Breast Tissue Markers are designed to address these clinical needs.

“With the launch of the UltraCor Twirl Breast Tissue Markers, we are confident of further supporting health care providers in India with advanced minimally invasive breast care technologies that align with evolving clinical needs and improve procedural outcomes that enable patient comfort,” said Atul Grover, managing director, BD India/South Asia.

The UltraCor Twirl Breast Tissue Markers are now available across India. BD will support healthcare providers through training and clinical education programmes.

As part of its efforts to promote knowledge exchange and strengthen clinical understanding of minimally invasive breast interventions, BD organised a multidisciplinary educational programme across Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru and Mumbai.

The initiative engaged more than 290 healthcare professionals, including interventional radiologists, surgical oncologists and gynaecologists.

The programme focused on vacuum-assisted excision technology and the use of breast tissue markers in contemporary breast cancer management.
