US-based medical technology company BRIJ Medical has announced the commercial launch of BRIJ-SEAL, an advanced wound sealant designed to seal and protect post-operative incisions while avoiding allergic reactions – one of the most overlooked challenges in surgical healing.
The single-use, sterile, hypoallergenic wound sealant provides surgeons with a fast-to-apply solution that delivers an immediate seal over the incision and a 14-day bacterial barrier, helping reduce the risk of surgical site infections.
According to the company, BRIJ-SEAL uses the same hypoallergenic adhesive technology as the company’s Brijjit device and contains no glue or cyanoacrylates. The adhesive has demonstrated no reported allergic reactions across six clinical studies involving Brijjit, the company said.
The wound sealant can be applied within seconds without adding extra procedural steps. It is breathable and waterproof, allowing moisture vapour to escape while enabling patients to shower under their surgeon’s guidance. Its flexible design conforms to natural body movement while reinforcing and protecting the surgical incision.
Surgeons can use BRIJ-SEAL as a standalone incision sealant or in combination with Brijjit, BRIJ Medical’s active tension offloading device.
The combination, the company said, provides both immediate incision sealing and active tension offloading benefits, helping reduce open wounds and improve scars.
