Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilizers Jagat Prakash Nadda on Monday launched a suite of digital health initiatives at the 16th Conference of the Central Council of Health and Family Welfare (CCHFW) in New Delhi, marking a major push to strengthen India’s digital public infrastructure for health.
The newly launched initiatives include Aarogya Setu 2.0, Ayushman App, Ayushman Sarathi WhatsApp Chatbot, National Health Claims Exchange (NHCX), Insurance Plan FHIR Object Creator, e-Sushrut Clinic, Unified Health Interface (UHI), Drug Registry, Common LOINC Codes for India (CLCI), and Bharat Health Terminology Service (BHTS).
Developed under the National Health Authority (NHA) and the National Resource Centre for EHR Standards (NRCeS), these platforms are designed to improve access to healthcare, enhance efficiency and continuity of care, and enable seamless exchange of health information across the healthcare ecosystem.
Addressing the gathering, Nadda described the launch as “a significant milestone in India’s journey towards building a healthier nation through digital innovation.” He said the initiatives would help create a more integrated, accessible and citizen-centric healthcare system.
Highlighting the progress made under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), Nadda noted that more than 90 crore ABHA accounts have been created and over 100 crore health records linked, making India one of the world’s largest digital health ecosystems.
He also pointed to the increasing use of artificial intelligence in healthcare and referred to AI-enabled initiatives such as SAHI and BODHI aimed at improving healthcare delivery.
Stressing that digitalisation is no longer an option but a necessity, Nadda said the newly introduced digital platforms bring together previously fragmented health services into a single integrated platform.
He added that the upgraded Aarogya Setu app will offer easier access to a wide range of health services for people of all age groups – from mothers and children to youth, the elderly and those living with chronic illnesses.
Calling on states and union territories to actively implement these initiatives, Nadda said that while the Centre provides policy support and digital infrastructure, effective execution at the state level will determine their impact.
He thanked states and UTs for supporting India’s digital health agenda and urged them to intensify efforts to help realise the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
